This week it's my turn to provide the inspiration for the Mojo Monday sketch at the Flying Unicorn Forums. I took this photo of my two eldest boys on one of the rare occasions they were both in button up shirts, to celebrate their G.G. (great-grandmother's) 98th birthday. It took several dozen tries to get a good one, so it definitely needs to be scrapped!
Call it serendipity, but this piece of paper from Prima's Delight collection (from the November kit of the month) lent itself beautifully to the sketch (designed by the oh-so-talented Alda) - the borders are a near-perfect match.
I started by layering on mediums - gesso scraped across the background, light molding paste through a Prima doily mask and some Shimmerz Spritz in Bed of Roses.
Have you noticed that when using sprays, applying one layer on top of another can rewet it, leading to muddying? To avoid this, I sprayed the layout with Krylon Workable Fixative before adding the next layer of mists, then added Gelatos and stamping, all without compromising the original red spray. I'm loving the Workable Fixative, but you have to remember to use it outside or somewhere with good ventilation, and even then, man does it smell!

I hope you will join us in playing along with the Mojo Monday sketch this week for your chance to win
And all November long, for every layout you load into the Flying Unicorn Gallery (it doesn't have to be a challenge entry - any layout you've done that hasn't previously been loaded is welcome) Flying Unicorn will donate $1 to Best Friends Animal Rescue Society up to a maximum of $1000. For other ways to support Best Friends, and for information on a raffle to win a Silhouette, check out Flying Unicorn Gives Back.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week!
