Lesson Learned - January OUAS

It's been almost 2 weeks between blog posts - yikes! I've been busy making up creative time I lost while I was at CHA and Disneyland, but am stopping in today to share a project I completed before leaving but have just had time (and sun) to photograph now.

I love Nadia's sketches at Once Upon A Sketch, and couldn't resist playing along with the January one. The journaling prompt is "Lesson Learnt", and I had to search around for a photo that I thought summed up I lesson I had learned.

Here is the layout I came up with:

I had so much fun with the background on this, combining Silks and Ayeeda paints with the Prima Jodie Lee Art Journal papers featured in the Flying Unicorn January kit.

I love the way the layered bubbles turned out on the background, and think I will do a tutorial on the technique sometime soon.

Lots of gorgeous Blue Fern Studios chipboard on this layout!

I started by covering the hearts (from the Blue Fern Bits pack) with an uneven coat of gesso, then added several colours of Gelatos and stamping for lots of dimension.

The Bits of Honey (and other BFS Textures sets) are ideal for tucking in here and there. I've painted mine with some periwinkle Twinkling H2Os, then touched them up with a little bit of gesso on my finger.

I cut the hollow hearts from the Chunky Heart Panel and added them into my layers.

Here is the lovely sketch at OUAS this month:

Thanks for stopping by!

Wow! What a fabulous layout, I love all your wonderful techniques, I have a lot to learn about scrapping and I can't wait to have a go at the bubble stamping technique so I look forward to your tutorial.
The photo you've chosen is great it's so nice to see children for a having fun, rather than posing for a photo.
Thanks for the inspiration and thank you for visiting my blog.
Have a great day.
Teresa.

Oh yes, Jackie, it can be such a challenge to photograph 3 active little boys. Great take on the journaling prompt!! What a fabulous backdrop you've created pulling colors from your fun photo. Love to see your journaling in your own hand as part of the page design!! ~ Blessings
