Hayseed

Life has been very busy over the past couple of weeks, but I still managed to eke out a little me time to play with the beautiful 9th Wave papers from 7 Dots Studio.

The picture is of Colby swinging on one of the gates at the farm where his older brothers were taking horseback riding.  I especially love the little white man's overbite he's rocking - unfortunately for us both, he gets that from his Mama.

I used this month's Blue Fern Studios sketch for inspiration:

I altered the BFS Seasonal Wildflowers by coloring it with Prima Chalk Ink, swiping it through some Lindy's Stamp Gang mist and then stamping it with a script stamp.

I cut apart the Blooming Foliage chippy and sprayed it with pink and green mists (you don't need to worry about overspray - close enough to covering the right areas is good enough), and once it was dry toned down the whole thing using Pastel Brown Chalk Edger and stamped it with the script stamp.

The pieces in the top right were treated the same way, except I first soaked the piece I'd cut off with water so I could peel it apart into two mirror-image pieces.  I also soaked apart one of the pieces from the Widgetworks set and used it to top all of my stacked circles.

To build on the gorgeous colors on the paper, I used a combination of 13 Arts Pearl Mist (Skye Blue) and Water Ink (Yellow).  I first misted the background with water, then added some Skye Blue mist and finished off with a mist I'd mixed myself from the blue mist and yellow water ink.

The Golden Sand paper has subtle circles emerging from the background around the edges. I wanted to continue the theme and bring it into the foreground; using the Picket Fence Distress Stain dauber top I made circles across the background, then covered them with Aged Embossing Enamel in Ivory.

I really like this page, Jackie..I especially love the background treatment..the colors are wonderful and I had no idea embossing enamel would stick to distress stain!
Also, I am glad to see you enjoying your BFS chippies :) :)
